at Rockpointe Church - Bearspaw.

Recital Schedule

The schedule for the dress rehearsal (Saturday June 18th) will be as follows:

12:00pm (noon)	Dancers will arrive in full costume and make up. They will find their group inside the theater
12:15 - 3:00	Dress rehearsal on stage

The schedule for the show on (Saturday June 18th) will be as follows:

10:00am	Preschool dancers will arrive in full costume and make up, parents will drop children off at the drop off point inside the main foyer of the auditorium
10:30am	Doors will be open to the theater
11:00am	Show time for our Preschool Show!
3:30pm	Doors will be open to the theater
4:00pm	Show time!

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAY FOR THE DRESS REHEARSAL OR BE ABLE TO GO BACKSTAGE DURING THE SHOW. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR CHILD PLEASE VOLUNTEER!

Volunteers

“Star Parent” Volunteers

I once again will be in need of your help! I need two volunteers per group. If I do not get two people per group that group will not be allowed to dance! Our “Star Parent” coordinator is Miss Kirsty. She will be available to answer all of your questions on or before the big day. She will be my right hand as I am very busy on these days and will not be available to answer your questions. Jaelyn Marchildon will be the preschool coordinator. Preschool classes will need 3 volunteers per class. I not only need help with classes but there are some “extra” jobs that will need some helpers as well.

YOU MUST HAVE A EMAIL ADDRESS TO VOLUNTEER. This is the easiest way for us to get you information and to make sure that everyone stay’s informed.

Please note that when you volunteer there is WORK involved. You are responsible for the well being of your group as well as there where abouts. You will be provided with a class list as well as costume information.

Responsibilities of Parent Volunteers

Coordinators (2): Miss Kirsty
To over see the entire volunteering committee and make sure the recital runs smoothly. Also to be the go to people for questions from the volunteers

Preschool Coordinator (1): Jae-lynn
The go to person for the preschool volunteers making sure they understand the responsibilities and the tasks of the position

Quick Change Volunteers (2): Still needed
Responsible for helping the dancers that are in more than one class or number change outfits and be on the stage at the correct time.

Star Parent volunteers: (back stage)
1. Responsible for keeping the class together and tend to any problems that may arise during the time back stage.
2. Helping the dancers to the washroom and with fixing their costumes if needed.
3. Making sure the dancers in the class have a snack and are eating it at appropriate times so as not to interfere with the performances.
4. Communicating with the coordinators any concerns or questions that might arise during the performance.

Traffic Director (1): Still needed
Responsible for getting the children to the appropriate group in the theater if they are late for rehearsal

Taking Tickets (2): Still Needed
Take tickets as people enter the theater. Responsibility ends once the performance starts.

Program Volunteer (2): Still Needed
Handing out programs to people entering into the theater. Responsibility ends once the performance starts.

BACK STAGE VOLUNTEERS’ DUTIES START AT THE BEGINNING OF THE REHEARSAL AND END AT THE END OF THE SHOW WHEN ALL THE CHILDREN ARE PICKED UP.

Recital Notes

A Few Tips...

Please arrive on time!
Please send a non messy snack (popcorn is a messy snack a banana is not!) with your children as well as a water bottle with a lid
A clean activity(there will be activities for your children to be involved in)
Leave valuables at home!
It is very hot backstage and it is very important you send water with your child.

Tickets

Tickets are $18.00 and you can buy as many as you would like. All tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. TICKETS WILL BE ON SALE STARTING MAY 1. Tickets sales will be closed 24 hours before our shows.

Tickets can be purchased ONLINE ONLY at www.summitschoolofdance.com. Please understand that there are only so many seats available per show and once these tickets are sold they are sold. Tickets for the recital are nonrefundable.

Video / DVD's

The recital will be professionally video taped as usual, so I would like to remind you there will be no video cameras or photos allowed to be taken during the performance. The taping will be available on DVD and the cost per tape will be only $25.00. You will be able to pre order your DVD on line when you purchase your tickets. You will be able to order a DVD the night of the performance with CASH ONLY.

DVD’s will be available for pick up during fall registration. Fall registration will take place Monday through Thursday 5:30 - 7:30 pm starting on August 30.

Costumes

Make Up
As we start to think about this year’s recital we have some exciting news for you. After hours of lessons, we are sure that you want to see your child’s face clearly when they take center stage and their lasting expressions are captured by our professional videographers. We have found a professional stage makeup that will make your young child’s facial features prominent without making them look like small teenagers

The quality of the makeup is exceptional and the colors are very intense. This line was developed by Judy Arnold, who is not only a pharmacist but a MAC Pro Artist as well. The colors were developed specifically for stage performance. The products are hypoallergenic. The pencils and eyeliner come from Germany – the leaders in cosmetic pencils.

Opening Night Recital Kit
Recommended for younger performers! This kit contains instructions, two eye shadows, blush, eyeliner, mascara, lip pencil, and lip stick in True Red. This kit is available at our group discount pricing of only $45.00 they retail for $55.00!. Orders will be accepted by calling the office during our office hours Mon - Thurs 4:30 - 7:00. Deadline for this order is April 30.

Hair
Hair for the recital will be a bun with no bangs. If your child does not have hair long enough to be put into a bun just use their natural style. Bun Makers which we highly recommend can be purchased for a reasonable $5.00 from our offices. PLEASE BUY A BUN MAKER IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE!!!

Shoes
Your child must be in the proper footwear for their class. Jazz classes - black slip on jazz oxfords and Hip Hop - jazz sneakers.

Tights
Please note that it is very noticeable from the stage if your child does not have on the proper tights! please purchase them they will use them again in the future! Tight color information for your class will be given when your child receives their costume. All ballet classes will have ballerina pink tights.

Underwear
NO PANTIES! If you are wearing a bra under your costume please make sure that it is NUDE. * If we see colored bras under costumes we will make you remove them!* Please pin bra straps to your costume or get nude/clear colored straps.

Recital Quick Changes
If your child is participating in more than one number(if they are in more then one class) for the recital please provide them with a BIG plastic tote (Rubbermaid container) with a lid. Please write or tape their name onto the front and side of the container. This will be for all of their “stuff”. We have found in the past that costumes, tights, shoes etc are getting lost in the quick change shuffle. If we all have our own tote then all of our things will (hopefully :) get back into our box. This will also keep backstage a little more organized and help our volunteers. We also have a found a great new product called the Rac n Roll which is a wardrobe on wheels.
